During this week’s event, I had the opportunity of attending the Hox Zodiac event, which I found to be extremely interesting and enjoyable. This event, specifically, was designed to honor the Horse, which is the Chinese zodiac for individuals born in the years 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014 and or 2026 (“Chinese Year of the Horse”).
During this event, we were able to listen to a presentation by Toni Dove. “Toni Dove lives and works in New York. Since the early 1990s, she has produced unique and highly imaginative embodied hybrids of film, installation and performance.
During this week’s event, I was able to listen to a very interesting presentation by Nina Sobell. “Nina Sobell is a contemporary sculptor, multimedia, and performance artist who pioneered the use of EEG technology, closed-circuit television, and internet communication in the art world” (Nina Sobell Bio).
During this week’s lecture, we got the opportunity to listen to a lecture by Dr. Gimzewski that revolved around plastics and microplastics and the long lasting effects they have on our environment. According to Dr. Gimzewski, plastics can be categorized into four different types: microplastics, nanoplastics, mesoplastics and macroplastics. As he mentioned, microplastics are extremely harmful to the environment for many reasons.
